About the treatment
Chemical peels are effective dermatological-aesthetic treatments designed to renew the skin, improve its quality and address a range of aesthetic concerns. Carefully selected acids remove the surface layers of the skin, encouraging cell renewal and the synthesis of new collagen. Depending on the skin type and the concern being treated, different types of peel are used — for acne and acne scars, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation and blemishes, fine lines, photo-ageing, uneven complexion, oily skin or loss of glow. After the treatment the skin becomes smoother, more even, fresher and more radiant, with a visible improvement in texture and tone. The treatment is planned individually, and for the best results a series of peels is often recommended.
Chemical peels are most often performed during autumn and winter, that is, in the period when UV exposure is lowest. After a peel the skin is temporarily more sensitive to sunlight, so there is an increased risk of hyperpigmentation and other unwanted reactions if it is exposed to the sun. For this reason it is best to plan treatments in months with fewer sunny days, with the mandatory daily use of a high-protection cream (SPF 50+).
After the treatment
After the treatment, mild redness, tightness and peeling of the skin may appear, which is an expected part of the renewal process. During recovery it is not advisable to remove the flakes, or to use aggressive cosmetic products, retinoids and acid-based preparations. It is also necessary to avoid sauna, swimming pools, intense physical activity and direct sun exposure for several days after the treatment. Regular skin hydration and strict sun protection are key to proper recovery and the maximum effect of the chemical peel.
